Pigs
The pigs are a relatively new venture. Most pigs in this country are mass produced. Nature intended that pigs be allowed to free range. Young piglets in a free range system do not need tail or teeth docking or an iron injection as they
can get enough iron from the soil.
Initially we purchased four organic weaners from the north and we finished them on the farm and had them killed and butchered into several different cuts including chops, joints, ribs, pork steak and we also had some sausages made using an organic rusk. All these cuts are available for sale either through our farm shop or on-line ordering.
We now have a breeding female Tamworth cross sow and she has produced a fine litter of bonhams. We hope to develop this enterprise a little more as the meat is really delicious!!!
